In order for your children or you to attend school, you must first pay the school’s tuition (fee for attending the school). The tuition for public and private schools are very different, and public universities have higher tuition for students who are not residents of Iowa.
There are many options for helping to pay for school, including loans, grants, scholarships and school-supplied financial aid. Generally, scholarships are offered to students who do very well in sports or their studies, or to students from low-income families. Students in high school should speak to their academic advisors or guidance counselor regarding local and national scholarships by public and private groups. Federally funded scholarships are generally only available for American citizens.
Once you have applied and been accepted to a university or college, you will work with their financial aid department on how to pay tuition.
