In addition to our fee-based interpretation and translation services, the Iowa International Center offers FREE interpretation assistance for those in emergency situations. The Iowa International Center's FREE 24/7 Emergency Hotline is available for the safety of non-English speakers in life-threatening crisis situations. This service is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We accept calls from hospitals, domestic violence shelters and other social service providers when they determine that language is a barrier to providing appropriate services.
This service is the only one of its kind, and is made possible by the generosity of Prairie Meadows, sponsor of the 24/7 Emergency Interpretation Hotline. Please note that we will do everything possible to fulfill the requests we receive, but the service does depend on interpreter availability.
To request emergency interpretation services, call 515-282-8269, option 5, and use code 7092. You will be connected with an interpretation service who will work with you on connecting with a professional interpreter.
