The Iowa International Center offers free interpretation services for emergency situations. These services are offered for limited English proficient (LEP) individuals facing a serious threat to life or well-being, and are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We accept calls from hospitals, law enforcement officers, domestic violence or homeless shelters and other social service providers when it is determined that language is a barrier to providing appropriate services.
This service is made possible by the generosity of Prairie Meadows. Please note that we will do everything possible to fulfill the requests we receive, but the service does depend on interpreter availability.
To request emergency services, dial 515-282-8269, option 5, and use code 7092. You will be connected with an interpretation service who will work with you on connecting with a professional interpreter.
The Iowa International Center also offers fee-based interpretation and translation services in central Iowa. For more information on how to work with our network of more than 100 trained interpreters in 60 different languages, please call the Iowa International Center at 515-282-8269, ext. 16 or visit us online at www.iowainternationalcenter.org for more information.
