Most companies and organizations are honest and want to work with customers if the customer is unhappy. There will be times that you are not happy with a transaction or purchase. You should always try to speak to the manager or owner of the business first, and save all the receipts, contracts and information related to your complaint.
What if you are not satisfied after speaking to the business?
The Better Business Bureau is an organization that specializes in helping consumers find out if a company the are thinking about doing business with, such as a car dealer, home repair business or telephone company, has any complaints about their service from previous customers. If you have a complaint about a business, you can also report them to the Better Business Bureau. Not every Iowa company is part of the Better Business Bureau, so if you have a complaint about the service you receive or way you were treated by a business, you should try to speak to a manager first. But if you do not feel that you are satisfied with whaat the manager does or says, telling the Better Business Bureau may be a next step.

You can also file a complaint with the Iowa Attorney General’s office if you believe you are a victim of fraud. This may mean you did not receive a service or product you were promised. Go to http://www.state.ia.us/government/ag/file_complaint/index.html to see the forms you can fill out.
